I am very honored to be the keynote speaker for the “Yes, We Can!” Disability Awareness Day Conference, on March 14th at Wyoming, UMC (Wyoming, DE)
Last year, I was so excited to receive an invitation from Peggy Johnson and the Disability Committee of Peninsula Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church to speak at the Disability Awareness Day. I have been eagerly planning for this event for months, and if you’re in the area, I hope that you can join us.
The theme of the conference is, “Yes, We Can!” The conference will be held on March 14, 2020, at Wyoming, UIMC (216 Wyoming Mill Rd. Dover, DE 19904). The conference begins at 9AM and goes until 1PM (CEUs are available).
Registration opens at 8:30AM and the conference begins at 9AM with opening worship. I will be offering the keynote address, and there will also be breakout sessions. I will be leading a breakout session about empowering people with disabilities to claim their voices and pursue their call to ministry, especially ordination. Other breakout sessions include: Local Church Ministry, Social Justice and Advocacy, and Community Connections.
The day also includes a networking lunch, and I’m very honored that the networking lunch will also have a table where I will be having a book signing. I will have copies available of Through My Good Eye: A Memoir in Verse and my latest book, The United Methodist Church and Disability.
