(Synopsis from the back cover): Life isn’t always a walk in the park, but when Patrice takes her Pomeranians to the park after a rough day at the office, fate steps in. An unlikely hero comes to the rescue when one of her dogs gets loose. Short, pale, and kind of cute, Seth doesn’t have a lot of confidence with the ladies, but he hits it off with Patrice.
But some things might be too good to be true. While Patrice wonders if Seth could possibly be “the one”, fate steps in again with a horrible twist. Will it be a deal breaker or just a storm before bright blue skies?
My Review
I’ve had a very stressful year (haven’t we all?) and this sweet little novella was just what I needed to give my spirits a lift. Short and sweet romance novels are one of my guilty pleasures, and this little book was as delightful as a warm cup of cocoa on a cold rainy evening.
I loved the entire premise of this book. The “meet cute,” where Seth and Patrice meet, is adorable. I enjoy books with animals (I have a small dog of my own) and Patrice’s Pomeranians sound just precious. Seth is my type of romantic hero– intelligent and sweet– and the romance between the two leads had a healthy dose of suspense to keep the reader engaged.
I don’t want to say too much, because this book is brief at only around a hundred pages, and if I keep rambling, there is a risk that my review will be longer than the text.
Essentially, I was quite stressed out, Blue Skies gave me a pleasant evening of entertainment. It helped me to escape from the cold dark “real world,” for a while and into a very pleasant (yet surprisingly believable) fantasy world where true love finds a way and the next romance is as close as the nearest dog park.
If you’re also looking for some fun, fluffy, and sweet escapism (or if you’re a fan of lighthearted romantic comedies in general), then I encourage you to get lost in the pages of Blue Skies by Alana Oxford.
