52 Weeks of Writing Author Journal and Planner, Vol. II

‘With this book by your side, anything feels possible.’ Jacqueline Brown
My Review
After having completed three books, I can say for certain that the most challenging part for me has been sticking to a writing schedule. (By the way, I’m excited to announce that my third book, Hope for the Broken, is finally available (affiliate link)! 52 Weeks of Writing by Marielle S. Smith is the perfect book to help wriers complete their first drafts!
I enjoy revising and correcting drafts. I love the art of language. When I polish a piece until it shines, I feel like an artist at work; however, FINISHING a first draft is the hardest part of the writing process for me. I struggle to silence my inner editor. I’m tempted to get caught in endless editing loops where I keep revising everything. I drive myself batty because nothing will ever be perfect, and therefore I will never be ready to move on to finishing the rest of the book.
52 Weeks of Writing helps authors make a plan and stick to it. I wish I would have had this book years ago. It is clear from her writing that Smith is experienced at working with creative people. In this planner, she unravels the writing process and provides a plan to keep authors on track throughout the entire year. I appreciated the fact that this planner is undated, so you can start any time. My favorite part were the inspiring quotes that she put at the beginning of each week. This planner is full of lots of great ideas and would be useful for both aspiring as well as published authors. Volumes I and II are interchangeable because they are undated. Each includes different prompts and quotes.
I received a free digital copy of this book from Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources. in exchange for an honest review. If I were to purchase this book for myself or a friend, I would buy a print copy. The joy of this book seems to be that you can write in it and use it as a journal to store all your great writing ideas! A print copy of this book would make a great gift for yourself, or for the writer in your life.
